These images come from as far as the rhododendron forests in the Khumbu region of Nepal, Cypress in Tuscany, redwoods in California, and the oaks along the Maine coast to the maples, birches, balsam and white pines surrounding Susan's home in Maple Corner, Vermont.

Reflecting quiet places in nature, they are meant as a deep contemplation of inner and outer connection. A very personal journey that reaches out to a diverse and intricate environment that we are all a part of, although sometimes unaware of.

These paintings take time to absorb, and hopefully these reproductions will encourage you to see the work in the flesh as that is a remarkably different experience.

What is it
about trees?

Shape — color — texture — a variety of lines that go in all directions. energy — spirit — rooted to ancestors.

Years of exploring the unforgiving process of watercolor, Susan Wahlrab has developed a unique technique of building as many as 50 layers of paint to describe the complexity of life.
